Group Faults Tinubu’s Appointment Of “Political Sons” Over Those That Worked For His Electoral Successes

A group with the name, Concerned Oyo State Indigenes, has faulted the continue appointment of few cliques under the claim of “Tinubu Boys” into several federal positions in the country.
In a statement on Friday through its spokesperson, Olaide Olapade, the development is seriously begining to be unacceptable especially as it affects Oyo State and majority of other states.
The group which it’s members claimed not to be members of any Political party stated that it’s concerns is as a result of the feelings of all Nigerians not minding party affliation, religion or ethnicity but a common well being of the nation.
The group asked President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to be wary of a seeming hijack of all appointments meant for other zones by Lagos politicians in Aso rock.
It added that states in the zone are being sidelined in the appointment of Presidential aides announced so far, as only the Lagos boys are snatching the slots.
“For instance, few months ago, out of 20 aides appointed by the President, at least 13 of them are Lagos-based Politicians. We believed that if this trend continue unabated, it might make the South west the first trouble spot that President Tinubu would have to contend with as leader of the party.
The group identified Oyo State as an important state where President Tinubu was massively voted for which almost cost the state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde of his second term bid, and even with that, all what the President has done is not in the best interest of the state.
” The President made two important appointments in Oyo state, and the two appointees are known “Tinubu Boys”, this is indeed embarrassing and unfortunate. The President, without recourse to the state Governor who put everything on line for his victory deliberately sidelined Seyi Makinde.
Look at the G-5 Governors, who stood by the President to ensure PDP Presidential candidate never had a good day in their states, except Nyesom Wike who is the current minister, other three Governors are still in the cold of Nigeria politics, all because President Tinubu prefer his boys, most of whom never worked for his electoral success and abandon those that worked day and night for his victory.”
The group reminded Tinubu of the significant role other states in South west played in his emergence as President in the 2023 polls adding that looking at the results of the Presidential Election, Oyo state performed better than Lagos, it would be unfair for Lagos to be reaping all benefits that are meant for the zone.
“At this point, we are calling on President Tinubu for his attention to this ugly situation whereby all politicians from Lagos State are seem to be the ones taking all the benefits that accrue to the entire southwest is totally unacceptable to other states in the region especially Oyo state which is the largest.
“How will the President explained appointing three Ministers from Ogun, two from Lagos State with just one from Oyo. Also, Chief of Army staff from Osun, Custom comptroller General from Osun, IGP from Ogun, Accountant General from Ogun, all these are too obvious that the President is likely pursuing personal agenda.
“A cursory look at the appointment made so far under this administration showed that majority of the people around Mr President are all Lagos politicians. His appointments should be spread out to other states including Oyo state which is the largest as Lagos is not the only state in the region.
“We made this observation in the interest of unity in the Southwest and the best interest of Nigeria at large.”
