Political Landscape Shifts in Ogun as Opposition PDP, APM Leaders Align with APC

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Monday welcomed key members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in a notable political shift in the state,

The delegation, led by Dr. Sikirulai Ogundele, a former chairman of the PDP in the state and Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, engaged in discussions that are widely viewed as a precursor to their anticipated formal alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in the state.

Other prominent members of the delegation were Dr. Ekelojumati, Hon. Olowo Fuja, and several influential grassroots mobilizers from various local government areas.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, was characterized as both cordial and strategic, signaling a pivotal moment in the political reconfiguration ahead of upcoming elections.

Governor Abiodun expressed his appreciation for the delegation’s commitment to fostering unity within Ogun State, highlighting the APC’s dedication to inclusive governance and sustainable development.

“This is not merely a political maneuver; it is a patriotic decision aimed at consolidating progress, promoting stability, and building a future of shared prosperity for our people,” he stated.

Dr. Sikirulai Ogundele, while speaking on behalf of the delegation, praised the Governor’s open-door leadership and the transformative initiatives being implemented across the state. He affirmed that the visit marks a significant step toward solidifying their decision to join the APC.

Hon. Akinlade, another respected political figure and former member of the House of Representatives and former gubernatorial candidate of the APM, reiterated the group’s intention to enhance the APC’s mission and contribute to the ongoing growth and peace of Ogun State.

The delegation is set to make their formal declaration and integration into the APC in the forthcoming weeks, a development that promises to strengthen the ruling party and highlights Governor Abiodun’s emerging role as a unifying force within Nigeria’s political arena.
