Olubadan Extols Ibadan Born Boxer, Scorpion Over Early Victory Against Ghanian, Quartey

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Isola Okumade lll has praised former WBF Featherweight Champion, Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola on his early victory on Friday.
Olubadan who was represented at the bout held on Friday in Lagos tagged: ‘The Home Coming Bout’, by the Mogaji Olubadan, Lato’s Compound, Labo Ibadan, Professor Abiodun Gbolagade commended former WBF Featherweight Champion, Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola for knocking out Ghana’s Emmanuel Quartey in round one of the bout.
Speaking after the boxing show held inside the indoor sports hall of National Stadium Surulere Lagos, the Mogaji Lato’s Compound, Labo, Ibadan appreciated the Ibadan born ‘Scorpion’ that for being a good ambassador of Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
He stated that with the likes of Ridwan across the world who are of Ibadan descendant, the ancient city is already being registered on the world map.
He assured the boxer of continuous support and prayer for more laurels and triumph in the course of his blossoming carrier.
Olubadan counsels youths to always channels their energy to profitable ventures and emulated the good virtues of Ridwan among other good role models.
“I’m happy to watch own boy, Ridwan who is a crowd puller and now I can attest to his sterling quality recorded within his short stay in Japan where I was told he had six fights; winning four, drawing one and narrowly losing one to Japanese, Keisuke Matsumoto via unanimous decision.” Mogaji noted.
Other fighters that featured in the show are; Sunday Abudu and Toheeb Wasiu that locked horns in the heavyweight category, while Adeyemi Adekanla battled Seminu Olapade in the Light Welterweight bout with Oto ‘JOE BOY’ Joseph recording a TKO against Bartholomey Abuchi in the Light welterweight category respectively.
