The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice James Omotosho, on Thursday sentenced the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment.
It was reported that the court had earlier convicted Kanu on all seven charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
According to the judgment, Kanu received life imprisonment on counts 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. He was further sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on count 3, without the option of a fine, and an additional five years on count 7, also without the option of a fine.
Justice Omotosho ordered that Kanu should not be remanded at Kuje Correctional Facility. The court also directed the forfeiture of his radio transmitter and barred him from accessing social media.
