This was at the 2025 International Youth Day celebration in Osogbo with the theme “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation through Technology and Partnership.” In his keynote, Engr. Agoro explained that youth empowerment must be seen as a strategic investment in Osun’s future. He called for the establishment of technology and innovation hubs, a Youth Development Fund, and stronger youth–industry partnerships. Engr. Agoro expressed deep gratitude for the honor and pledged to further champion youth causes in the state: “This investiture is not just a personal recognition; it is a call to greater service. I dedicate this honor to the vibrant young people of Osun State, whose resilience and creativity continue to inspire us all. “As Patron of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, I will work closely with government, industry, and development partners to open more doors of opportunity for our youth. Together, we will ensure that the dreams of Osun youth translate into tangible achievements that uplift our state and our nation.” In his goodwill message, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, Commissioner for Youth Affairs, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth-focused policies, praising their resilience and innovation. Oba (Dr.) Michael Odunayo Àjàyí, the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesha, urged young people to blend innovation with discipline, while upholding cultural values as the bedrock of sustainable progress. Captains of industry at the event pledged stronger support for youth-led ventures through mentorship, funding, and partnerships. The celebration concluded with optimism and renewed commitment, as stakeholders affirmed that Osun youth are not just beneficiaries of development but active leaders and partners in building a prosperous future for the state and Nigeria at large. The high-profile event was graced by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Michael Odunayo Àjàyí (Arowotawaya II), the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesha Kingdom, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Osun State, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, other distinguished royal fathers, top government officials, and captains of industry.

Cargo Airport: Ogunlesi Commends Abiodun-Led Administration For Building World-Class Airport

A renowned investment banker and owner of five airports including Gatwick, Edinburg as well as Nuovo Transporto Viagiatori, Adebayo Ogunlesi has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration for building a world-class airport in the state.

Ogunlesi, who is also the Chairman and Managing Partner of Global Infrastructure Partners, gave this commendation in an interview with newsmen shortly after he was conducted around the Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport, located along Iperu-Ilisan road in Ikenne Local Government Area by Governor Abiodun, on Friday.

He described it as the fastest airport to be constructed anywhere in the world.

“The place is fantastic, I was telling the governor that I have never heard of any airport constructed so fast. In fact when he told me, I had to bow because I have never heard of an airport built in two years and the concept, the idea, the location and the strategic nature of this airport is fantastic.

“These are exactly the things we need in Nigeria, this is what will take Nigeria forward to the next century and beyond.

“I am ecstatic because as the governor mentioned, the government role is to facilitate the development of the airport, the government has no interest in running airports. There are people whose businesses are to run airports, so we get it built, we get it financed”, he pointed out.

According to the investor, the airport built to international standard, is capable of taking any size of plane, noting that “the governor said once we get it built, we will find somebody who is in the business of running airport to come and manage it professionally and by the way, they will pay taxes to the government, so that will be good, that is the way things should be done.

“Think about the strategic location, right in the middle of Ogun State with access to two critical super highways, think about all of the industrial facilities that can be built around this airport, all the jobs that will be created, I think Mr Governor is visionary”, Ogunlesi added.
