A group, Concerned Oyo State Indigenes, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emulate the state Governor, Seyi Makinde in the spread of political appointment to other parts of the country.
The group in a statement through its spokesperson Olaide Olapade on Tuesday said Makinde, unlike President Tinubu few days ago made series of appointments which truly reflects the spread in Oyo state geopolitical zones.
The group Governor Makinde with its actions look beyond his long standing political and close associates and even his inner caucus in the choice of those saddle to serve the people of the state.
The group expresses surprise that President Tinubu even ignored his party members, those that worked for his emergence and appointed those that went on air to campaigned against his candidatute and his party.
“What can we day of the President who preferred to appoint those that openly and secretly campaigned against his party and candidature and abandoned those that day and night worked for his emergence.
“This type of attitudes is not known with Yoruba culture, so we wondered how the President got this in his character. Our area of conflict with Tinubu in recent times is the total abandonment of Oyo State in the scheme of things as regards appointing a well accepted Indigene of the state who cut across and truly represents the interest of the people.”
“With the alleged favouritism and sentiment by those around President Tinubu led by then Chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, it seems as if they are enemies of the nation’s democracy.
“With this, we have come to the conclusion that President Tinubu deliberately choose to empowered “his boys” against the 2027 election in Oyo State.
“Let’s also use this medium to tell the President that the people of Oyo State who graciously gave the President largest vote in the southwest are patiently waiting to once again made a definite statement in 2027 and put things in their proper way.”
The group expressed worry over the power arrogated to the so called “President Boys” led by Femi Gbajabiamila and those of Lagos based appointees at the detriment of other marginalised zones.”
Olapade then advised minister of Federal Capital Territory to be wary of antics by the Presidency and not to be unnecessary used and dumped.
“Look at the G5 governor’s who jeopardised the chances of Atiku Abubakar, where are the other three former Governors, they had been used and dumped, too bad. ”
CIOS then called on President Tinubu to call the Economic Finacial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to order and stop embarrassing prominent sons of Yorubaland under the guise of probe.
The group emphasised that the appointments should spread out to other states of the federation especially Oyo state which is the political headquarters of the southwest.
