Reps To Cut Down Salaries By 50% For 6 Months to Support Hardship

In a bold move to lead by example, the members of the House of Representatives have agreed to take a 50% pay cut for the next six months.

This decision comes at a time when the country is facing economic challenges, and the lawmakers are demonstrating their commitment to sharing the burden with the citizens they serve.

Each member of the House of Representatives currently earns a monthly salary of ₦600,000. With the 50% reduction, their monthly pay will be cut to ₦300,000. This means that across the 360 members of the House, a total of ₦108,000,000 will be saved each month.

Over the six-month period, this will amount to a staggering ₦648,000,000 that can be redirected towards critical developmental and relief efforts.

This selfless act by the House of Representatives members showcases their understanding of the needs of the people and their willingness to make personal sacrifices for the greater good of the nation.

In these challenging times, such leadership by example can inspire others to follow suit and work towards a more equitable and sustainable future for all Nigerians.
