Oyo NACJ, Chair, Shobowale Charges Christians On Essence Of Christmas

The Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ), Oyo State chapter, ‘Lekan Shobo Shobowale has charged Christians on the true meaning of Christmas, reminding them that the essence of the celebration is not about “the gifts under the tree, but the gift of Jesus Christ.”

In a statement issued on his behalf by the Public Relations Officer PRO, of the association, Com. Adeola Badru, Shobowale emphasised that: “Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.”

“It is not about the lights on our tree, but the light of Christ in our hearts. It is not about the gifts under our tree, but the gift of salvation.”

Com. Shobowale went on to say that Christmas is a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and the message of love and peace that he brought to the world.

“It is a time to remember the real meaning of the holiday, and to focus on the true spirit of giving,” he said. “It is not about the gifts we receive, but the gifts we give to others.”

He, then, called on Christians to use the holiday season as an opportunity to reach out to others in need, and to spread the message of hope and compassion that is at the heart of the Christmas season.

In addition to giving to others in need, the NACJ Chairman in Oyo State also urged Christians to take some time to reflect on their own lives and consider how they can live a more Christ-like life in the coming year.

“Christmas is not just about receiving, it is about giving, forgiving, and making the world a better place. Let us all strive to be more like Christ in the year ahead, and to be a light to those around us,” he said.
