Oyo Education Commissioner Promises To Sustain Collaboration With All State-Owned Tertiary Institutions

Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Prof Salihu Abdul Waheed, has promised to sustain the relationship between the Education Ministry and the state’s tertiary institutions, with a view to further delivering qualitative education.

The commissioner made the pledge, on Friday, while receiving the Vice Chancellor of the First Technical University, Ibadan,(Tech U), Prof. Adesola Ajayi and other management team of the institution at the ministry.

He maintained that the governor Makinde-led administration will continue to give special attention to the development of qualitative education in the state.

“The Governing Council matters for the seamless operation of the university, there is no way the state Universities will exist without the Ministry of Education. There is always a cordial relationship and
working together will help us to get qualitative education in the State.

“We will continue to have a symbiotic relationship with Technical University, there is a department in the Ministry called the Department of Higher and Continuing Education.

He noted that the Ministry will support state-owned universities to improve learning, teaching and research facilities.

The Vice Chancellor, First Technical University, Prof. Adesola Ajayi, in his remarks, said that the visit was to congratulate the new Commissioner for his well-deserved appointment as the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology.

While briefing the commissioner on the programmes and activities of the institution, Prof. Ajayi commended the ministry for supporting the institutions towards achieving its mandate.

He thereafter sought continuous support and relationship with the Ministry and the institution
