Oyo APC chieftain, Fatai Ibikunle denies leadership appointment claims

Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has debunked an online report claiming his appointment as the leader of the progressives in the state.

The report, published by an online platform and authored by one Khadijah Kehinde Ogunmola, has been described by Ibikunle as false, baseless, and unfounded.

In a statement he issued on Sunday, Ibikunle said that no such appointment or decision was made, either formally or informally, within the ranks of the APC.

He clarified that he has not been appointed as the leader of the progressives, adding that the report was a mere fabrication intended to mislead the public and stir confusion within the party.

Ibikunle called on APC members and the public to disregard the misinformation, urging media practitioners to verify their reports from credible sources before publication.

He stressed that the spread of false information could harm the unity and progress of any political organisation.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Ibikunle pledged to continue working for the party’s success, particularly as it prepares for the 2027 elections.

He also encouraged party members to remain focused, united, and determined to ensure the APC’s growth in Oyo State and across the country.
