Okpebholo restates commitment to development after tribunal victory
……assures Edo residents of enduring progress

In a grand celebration at the Okaijesan Town Hall in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State received a rousing welcome from party leaders and supporters following his resounding victory at the election petition tribunal.

Addressing the jubilant crowd, Governor Okpebholo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Edo for their unwavering support and prayers, assuring them that his administration will continue to pursue impactful development across the state with renewed determination.

“Our victory at the tribunal is a victory for the good people of Edo State who came out on September 21, 2024, to make their voices heard. I am proud to say the people made the right choice, and we are committed to repaying that confidence with real progress,” the Governor declared.

Governor Okpebholo announced key infrastructural strides already underway in Esan land, revealing that contracts have been awarded to dualise the old road from Ekpoma to Ubiaja. He emphasized that improving road infrastructure will boost economic activities and ease transportation across the region.

“If you go to Enewa now, it’s looking like Abuja. We are changing the landscape with quality road construction. That’s how we build prosperity—by fixing what matters to the people,” he said.

He reassured residents that plans to empower local businesses are already in motion, with the soft loan initiative set to commence in less than two weeks. “The funds are ready, and names are being compiled. This is about empowering our people directly. Development is not a promise—it’s happening.”

In response to opposition appeals against the tribunal verdict, Governor Okpebholo maintained a confident and unifying tone. “Our legal victory is a confirmation of the people’s will. Let the opposition do what they must—it is their right—but we remain focused on delivering the mandate freely given to us by Edo people. At every stage, truth will prevail.”

Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, echoed this sentiment, noting, “God has given us double victory—first at the polls and now at the tribunal. We thank the Almighty and the people of Edo State who continue to stand with this administration.”

In a heartfelt gesture, the Leader of the Arewa community in Esan land, Bawa Umar, praised Governor Okpebholo for his responsive leadership, peaceful disposition, and quick interventions following the Uromi killings. He also commended the Governor’s condolence visit to Kano State, describing it as a symbol of humility and statesmanship.

Governor Okpebholo concluded the gathering by assuring the people that the best is yet to come. “We are here to work, not to talk. Edo people can already see the difference, and with your continued support, we will take Edo State to even greater heights.”
