
Nigeria Right Activist, Politician Erubami Tasks New Power Minister, Tegbe On Sustainable Electricity.
A renown Rights Activist and an Anti – Corruption crusader, Mashood Erubami, had set an immediate workable agenda for the newly appointed Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe.
Erubami, in a release last weekend, said Nigeria
power failure is structural but fixable with sequenced actions that could restore confidence, improve supply, and unlock investment locally and internationally .
He outlined immediate agenda as implementable according to the Minister s submissions before the National Assembly while answering questions from Senators posing multiple questions to him.
He called on the minister to prepare and commence work so as to give Nigerians hope within the first 100 days and restored confidence in the hearts of electricity End – Users, elevating positive deliveries from government and creating joy and happiness among the mass of Nigerians who have suffered excruciating pains from perfunctory performances in the electricity sector.
He urged the minister to set up a 60-day technical task force committee with TCN, GENCOs, DISCOs, and system operators to identify and fix the top 10 causes of grid instability.
“Minster should restore Grid Stability and reduce System Collapse within very short time ( within the 100 days of his assumption of office.
“Engage his offices in the constantly monitoring across transmission corridors to enable faster fault detection and isolations.
“Enforce stricter grid code compliance for all GENCOs and DISCOs, with published performance metrics monthly.
“Embark on improving generation, gas- lighting idle and underperforming plants and target increased utilization of generated energy from the transmission sector.
“Ensure strict monitoring of efficient supplies of gas as agreed with NNPCL and other gas producers on mutually beneficial contracts agreements.
“Open the market for embedded and captive power under the Electricity Act 2023, with simplified licensing to states and local government.
“Ensure improving performance elevation on Discos on mass metering, equitably fair billing and reduction of outage hours, and customer complaints.”
