The Chairman, Christian Association Of Nigeria, Oyo State, Apostle Col Sola Akinyemiju has called on Christians in the state and promote the true gospel of Christ and their faith.

Apostle Col. Akinyemiju stated this at the maiden retreat of the Nigeria Association of Christian Journalists, Oyo State held at Government House Chapel, Agodi, Ibadan.

He described Christian Journalists as soldiers of Christ, charging them to maximize all available platforms to promote christianity and good works.

Oyo CAN Chairman said Christian Journalists should intensify efforts to help churches to grow and promote partnership among churches through their activities.

Rtd. Col. Akinyemiju seized the occasion to pledge the support of Christian Association of Nigeria to the cause of the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists, Oyo State.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chaplain, Government House Chapel, Pastor Layi Adisa in his address emphasised the need to pray for Oyo state and the nation at large at such a time as this.

He said Christian Journalists are called to make a difference as a light.

Pastor Adisa charged Christian Journalists to be shinning lights and good examples to the world, use their profession to help the helpless and regularly engage leadership on critical issues.

Appreciating Christian dignitaries that graced the maiden edition of the retreat, the chairman of the association, Comrade Lekan Sobowale, who tagged the event as historic in his opening address, emphasised that the association will thrive on the support of Christian leaders in the state.

Dignitaries at the event called on Christian leaders to empower Christian Journalists with needed resources to maximize their potentials.
