Fubara’s Suspension, A Disgrace To Nigeria” – Jonathan Fumes
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has slammed the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other elected officials in Rivers State, declaring that the political drama is a stain on Nigeria’s reputation.
Speaking in Abuja on Saturday at the Haske Satumari Foundation Colloquium, Jonathan didn’t mince words, expressing deep disappointment over the actions of political actors, which he said cast the country in a bad light.
“This is not the norm, but I cannot stay silent while our democracy is being ridiculed,” Jonathan stated. “Many Nigerians have urged me to speak, and the truth is that what’s happening in Rivers State is damaging our country’s image.”
The former president warned that Nigeria’s ability to attract foreign investment depends on the integrity of its executive, legislature, and judiciary. He also decried a situation where individuals dictate to the judiciary, calling it a dangerous precedent that weakens public trust in governance.
Jonathan’s comments add to the growing backlash against the political crisis in Rivers State, with increasing calls for democratic order to be restored.Fubara’s Suspension, A Disgrace To Nigeria” – Jonathan Fumes
