Entrance Exam Into Oyo Science Schools: Oyo Govt Reacts To Late Commencement At Ogbomoso Centres
Sunday August 20, 2023
The attention of the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has been drawn to a publication by the Ogbomoso insight dated 18th August 2023 titled “UNBELIEVABLE: This is 9:30pm, entrance exam into Science School Ogbomoso yet to conclude since 7am.”
In the said report, it was alleged that the Entrance Examination to School of Science started very late at Ogbomoso.
The entire members of the public should please note that the Examination was scheduled to commence at 9.00 am at the 7 designated CBT centers including Polytechnic Center Ibadan; Atanda Center, Ibadan; Yimbol College center Orogun; Okeho Center, Poly Eruwa center; Oyo Center and Ogbomoso Center.
However, the service providers complained that the platform developed a technical fault and got rectified finally around after 10.00am and thus made it impossible to start the exam earlier as scheduled.
When the information reached the Ministry, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Salihu Abdul Waheed, and the entire Management team swung into action and normalcy returned to all the centers.
The Honourable Commissioner and the entire team visited some of these centers and were found to be peaceful and well conducted.
The Ogbomoso Center was to conclude the Examination by 3.00pm, going by the normal schedule, but because the Examination commenced a little behind schedule, the time got adjusted.
Secondly, the Ministry noticed, again, there was another challenge that the service provider officers in Ogbomoso center failed to report early. So, before other technical officers could get to Ogbomoso from Ibadan to assist, it was in the evening.
The public should also note that only those that registered at the appropriate areas were supposed to sit for the exam.
However, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Salihu Abdul Waheed, in his magnanimity, directed that all unregistered candidates that came to all the centers in the State, must be accommodated, and catered for. Hence they were not deprived the opportunity to participate in the examination, a development which occassioned the lateness in the completion of the exercise.
The Ministry is, however, using this medium to appeal and apologize to the public for any inconvenience(s) this might have caused.
Thanks for your understanding.
Signed
Prof Salihu Abdul Waheed Adelabu
Commissioner for Education Science and Technology
