Baba Adinni of Yorubaland, Isola Mourns Late Chief Imam of Owo

The Baba Adinni of Yorubaland and former Nigeria Ambassador of Nigeria to the United Kingdom, Amb. Sarafa Tunji Isola on Wednesday mourns the passage of the late Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh (Dr.) Imam Ahmad Olagoke Aladesawe.

Amb. Isola in a statement personally signed by him and made available to Journalists in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital described the late islamic leader as forthright and guardian of Qur’an.

“With a heart humbled before Allah’s decree, I join millions of faithful in mourning the glorious transition of Sheikh (Dr.) Imam Alhaji Mayor Ahmad Olagoke Aladesawe, the revered Chief Imam of Owo, who answered the eternal call of Allah yesterday, September 16, 2025 at the blessed age of 91.

“Sheikh Aladesawe was not just a Chief Imam; he was a guardian of the Qur’an, a custodian of prophetic traditions, and a bridge of unity among Muslims. As Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo State, and as Secretary-General of the League across Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, he embodied the true essence of Islamic leadership: humility, wisdom, justice, and service.”

Sarafa Tunji Isola who is also a Governorship Aspirant in Ogun State said the departure is a reminder of the fleeting nature of life, but also a testament to the immortality of deeds done in sincerity to Allah and humanity.

“He lived as a lamp of knowledge, a voice of peace, and a counsellor of truth, leaving behind footprints that generations yet unborn will continue to follow.

“At 91, he exemplified the Qur’anic injunction: “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you” (Qur’an 49:13). His life was not measured in years but in decades of selfless service to Islam, to the Ummah, and to society at large.

“I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, the Muslim Ummah of Owo, Ondo State, and all of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States. May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his noble deeds, and grant him Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus.

“Indeed, a light has returned to its Source, but its radiance shall remain with us forever.”
