Appointment: Tinubu Not Fair To Oyo State – Oladoja
..Commends Makinde on good governance
A stalwart of the Oyo state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, Mogaji Olawale Oladoja has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of bias in the selection of appointees into crucial sector of his government.
Mogaji Oladoja stated this on Friday while answering questions from Journalists at an event in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He said the appointments so far made by the President have shown that he has special consideration for people from his constituency which is Lagos state or those with links to Lagos State.
Oladoja explained that the role played by the Oyo State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde and hard decisions and sacrifices made by the people of Oyo State should had been better appreciated by the President.
“I’m afraid to state that a situation whereby the appointees in crucial sectors are not only from his macro constituency but also connected to the Lagos axis suggests a deliberate attempt of the President to only compesate his so called Lagos Boys.”
Oladoja pointed to the appointments of the minister of finance and the cordinating minister of the economy, Mr. Wale Edun; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Yemi Cardoso minister of communications innovation and digital economy, Mr Bosun Tijani, Zaccheus Adedeji, Adebayo Adelabu, Tunji Alausa and many others an attempt to deliberately marginalised other states in the Southwest and Nigeria as a whole.
He described the attitudes of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike as a height of greediness and self centeredness as many members of his G-5 are yet to be compensated while he has already commenced second term campaign of President Tinubu.
He added that even though Wike also have capacity to appoint people into position of authority in his ministry, he has failed to do that but singing the praises of Tinubu even when it is not yet necessary.
While he admitted that the appointees are eminently qualified for their respective positions, it however said competent hands could be found in other states of the country to make it reflect national spread.
Commenting on the situation in the country and the suspended protest of the members of Nigeria Labour Congress, Oladoja said, it is an understatement that Nigerians are hungry and angry but also bittered with the situation they are hence the President to act on time.
He described the suspended protest as an act of cowardice by the NLC.
The PDP Stalwart urged the Federal Government to as a matter of responsibility published the sharing formula for the alleged thirty billion being rumored to been giving to each States.
Oladoja said even though there is no confirmation yet that FG shared thirty billion to states, if such is thru state governor’s must be made to account for it.
Mogaji Olawale Oladoja commended Governor Seyi Makinde for rising to the occasion when it matters most and never abandoned the people of Oyo State.
He said if not for Governor’s like Makinde, it would had been a different stories, altogether, but Give Makinde had done so well.
“In his appointments, changes and replacements, I call on the President to be wary of actions that can send a wrong signal on his true intentions or the agenda of some of his key lieutenants.
“I expect President Tinubu to be fair, just and equitable in his decisions not only because Oyo State overwhelmingly voted for him but because that is the right thing to do.”
Oladoja further stressed that President Tinubu should review some of his policies as some of them are harsh and anti people.
Mogaji Oladoja while commenting on Ajaokuta Steel Mill which has not worked since 1979, urged the President to dissolve the ministerial committee put in place and appoint someone with experience and wherewithal to make it work.
He then advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the need to ensure good relationship with Nigeria industrialists for the sake of the Nigerian people.
