This Is Not The Time To Look Back, League of Patriotic Lawyers tells EFCC

The League of Patriotic Lawyers has called on the leadership urge the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC “ not to be intimidated by the galaxy of cowardly governors currently shopping for judicial forum to undo the good works of the commission” Briefing newsmen, the Chairman of the body, Abubakar Yesufu, said with the exploits of the EFCC, especially in the last one year, the Commission should be commended and strengthened “.

While calling on theFederal Government to strengthen the EFCC, to enable it go after all former and serving public officials who may have embezzled public funds, it also urged Nigerians to support the agency in its quest to rid Nigeria of current corrupt practices.

His words:”All patriotic Nigerians across political, social and religious divide should keep on supporting the EFCC and its leadership from the suffocating grip of some members of the ruling class opposing the Commision, especially the irresponsible court case initiated by some governors with ostensible skeletons in their cupboards”.

“We commend the EFCC for the arrest of former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa. It is professional and clinical. If there exists any more cynics about the efficacy and continuous relevance of the commission, this arrest would be a decisive ” shut up ” to them.

“This arrest is yet another eloquent testimony that the
EFCC has to be further strengthened and encouraged as it remains the redeeming feature of this administration.

Whether in going after the former Governors or recoveries of illicit funds, the current EFCC and its leadership remains strong and adorable. With over 300 billion naira as recoveries and more than 3000 convictions, the EFCC must continue to hoist our flag of honesty. With this yet another arrest, the EFCC, remains clearly a leading light in the fight against corruption not only in Nigeria but also globally.

“Little therefore wonders, that the FBI has designated it a useful alley or partner to collaborate with in its fight against financial heist. We urge the commission and its leadership not to be intimidated by the galaxy of cowardly governors currently shopping for judicial forum to undo the good works of the Commission. This is not the time to look back.”
