Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Allocates Farmlands To Lawmakers To Boost Food Security

In a significant move towards enhancing food security and supporting the federal government’s agricultural resurgence initiative, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has allocated farmlands to 26 members of the state House of Assembly.

This strategic allocation aims to transform Ogun State into the food basket of Nigeria, marking a pivotal step in the governor’s vision for agricultural development and economic prosperity.

Governor Abiodun emphasized that the allocation of farmlands is part of a broader strategy to enhance food security. By involving legislators directly in agricultural activities, the administration aims to foster greater commitment to the state’s food production goals and inspire other residents to engage more actively in farming.

During a ceremony at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun presented letters of allocation to the lawmakers.

He expressed his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and driving substantial progress in the state. The governor lauded the assembly members for their dedication to democracy and good governance.

The governor acknowledged the tireless efforts of the lawmakers in passing bills and resolutions that have positively impacted the people of Ogun State. He highlighted the crucial role of legislative support in advancing key state initiatives, particularly in the agricultural sector.

Governor Abiodun assured the lawmakers of his administration’s steadfast commitment to investing in critical infrastructure.

He pointed out that improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and technology are vital for making Ogun State more competitive and prosperous.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide expressed gratitude to the governor for his efforts in renovating and restoring the assembly complex. He praised Governor Abiodun’s leadership and emphasized the Assembly’s readiness to cooperate in making laws that would accelerate socio-economic development in the state.

Speaker Elemide underscored the Assembly’s support for the governor’s initiatives, especially those aimed at agricultural development. He highlighted the significance of the farmland allocations in promoting agriculture as a key economic sector in Ogun State.

Governor Abiodun reiterated that the allocation of farmlands to lawmakers is expected to set a precedent for other states to follow in boosting their agricultural outputs. This initiative is seen as a testament to the collaborative spirit between the executive and legislative branches.

The governor’s vision is to create a sustainable agricultural framework that can provide food security not just for Ogun State but for the entire nation. This development marks a significant step towards achieving this vision and underscores the importance of leadership and collaboration in driving state-wide development.

The allocation of farmlands is also seen as a step towards empowering lawmakers to lead by example in agricultural production. Governor Abiodun’s approach underscores the importance of involving various stakeholders in the quest for economic growth and innovation.

This initiative signifies a major advancement in Governor Abiodun’s efforts to make Ogun State the food basket of Nigeria. His leadership and the cooperative efforts of the state Assembly are proving instrumental in driving significant progress and development across the state.
