Kebbi State NASS Caucus Demands Accountability: Arrest & Prosecution of Abubakar Malami

Abuja – The Kebbi State National Assembly Caucus, under the leadership of Senator Adamu Aliero, has today demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, for acts which the caucus alleges amount to a breach of public peace.

These demands follow Malami’s petition dated 10 September 2025, in which he accused His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris, along with other political actors, of importing political thugs, foreign mercenaries, and clandestine arms into Kebbi State. The caucus hereby rejects these allegations as false, unfounded, and politically motivated, aimed at sowing discord and discrediting the current administration.

Contrary to these claims, during Mr. Malami’s recent condolence visit to Birnin Kebbi, it is alleged that he arranged for hired thugs from Sokoto, Koko, and Rara to accompany him. These individuals are said to have attacked the APC State Secretariat, chanting anti-Governor slogans such as “One term”, provoking violent clashes with APC supporters. Such acts, if confirmed, are dangerous provocations that threaten the peace and security of Kebbi State.

In view of the foregoing, the Kebbi NASS Caucus:

1. Calls on all appropriate security and prosecutorial agencies to promptly investigate these allegations in a transparent manner.

2. Urges the arrest and prosecution of Abubakar Malami, SAN, should evidence establish wrongdoing.

3. Challenges Mr. Malami to present credible and verifiable evidence to support his claims.

4. Commends Governor Nasir Idris and security agencies for their ongoing commitment to peace, law, and order.

5. Appeals to the people of Kebbi State to remain calm, law-abiding and assured that their safety and well-being are paramount.

The Caucus reaffirms its unwavering support for Governor Nasir Idris and reiterates that the peace enjoyed by the people of Kebbi remains a non-negotiable priority.
