
Ibadan Angican Bishop Calls For Renewed Commitment To God’s Work
..as Church honours Akinfenwa, Wife, Odewenwa, POF Secretary, Dopamu, Others
The Bishop, Ibadan Anglican communion, Most Revd Dr. Joseph Akinfenwa has called on Christians to renew their commitment to the service of God and humanity.
Bishop Akinfenwa made this call at the centenary celebration of St James Anglican Church, Alabata, Ibadan.
According to Akinfenwa, it is important for Christians to put in their best while serving God and not just a lip service as being done by most nowadays Christians.
The Bishop highlighted the importance of unwavering faith and selfless service to God.
He said the centenary anniversary serves as a reminder of the church’s ongoing mission and the commitment required to fulfil it.
He charged the leadership and entire members of the church to intensify effort in propagating the gospel of Christ in and around Alabata and beyond so as to obey the scriptures.
The vicar of the church, Canon Joseph Ademola Dopamu, said the anniversary is to thank God and appreciate the love of God not only in the church but in Alabata.
He stated that St James Angican church, Alabata, came into the town a hundred years ago and made the church forerunner of other churches in and around the area.
As part of activities marking the anniversary, the church presented awards to distinguished people who has served the church in various capacity which included Bishop Joseph Akinfenwa, Elder Dupe Odewenwa and the Vicar, Canon Joseph Dopamu among others.
