How I Escaped Arisekola, Adedibu’s Bullet By Whisker – Erubami
The Convener, Pro-democracy group, Coalition for Democracy in Nigeria (CODIN), Moshood Erubami has on Friday disclosed that he would have been a dead man if not for the grace of God.
Erubami, one of the leading pro-democracy group leaders in Nigeria, made this disclosure in an interview with journalists at his Old-Ife Road, Ibadan office.
The fiery activist was speaking on the event surrounding the popular “Alasalatu rally” of Ibadan in 1994 at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
Erubami explained that after he and his activist groups have chased away those that were invited by late Ibadan strongman of politics, Lamidi Adedibu and businessman, Late Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao under the pretence of an Islamic programme from the stadium, the organisers of the event in collaboration with the then military administration later reinforced with more military personnel and launched deadly attack on the people, killing many in Ibadan on the fateful day.
“I was inside an office belonging to a legal practitioner very close to Adamasingba, and about to drank a cup of water when I suddenly saw that a bullet flied over my head and also hit the door at the entrance of the office.
“The officer thought I was dead having noticed that the bullet hit through the door, but for Almight God that protected me that day, I would have been forgotten by now.”
