Houses Sealed At Moniya Were On Court Order, Says Akinsola’s Family

..Don’t bring Olubadan’s stool to disrepute, family cautions J-5 group

Thursday August 17, 2023

Following a widespread fake news by a newspaper publication that 200 houses were sealed at Moniya in Akinyele Local Government by yet to be identified Head (Mogaji), members of the Akinsola’s family compound Ibadan has expressed surprise to the said publication.

In a statement by the spokesperson of Akinsola’s family, Dr Babajide Akinsola, on Thursday, the said newspaper report was only the imagination of the reporter.

Dr Babajide Akinsola explained that what transpired on Wednesday was strictly a court order which formed the basis for the action.

Dr Akinsola accused members of the J-5 group which has made the Olubadan’s palace their base even though not known to any Ibadan traditional institution of trying to instigate violence in the area by deliberately insulting security agents sent by court to carried out the order.

He said the last court judgement was gotten in February 2022 from the Oyo State High Court before His Lordship M. O Isola which was not also abide with by the defendants.

Akinsola disclosed that “following the court order of judgement execution, representatives of the family, officers of the Nigeria Police Force were in the said area to enforce judgement of the court.

“Justice M. O Oduola, Judge of High Court of Justice, Ibadan sitting in the Ibadan Judicial division on Monday the 28th of February, 2022 in his judgement ruled that since the parties involved agreed to settle their dispute out court and consequently abide by it dated 18th of February and duely signed by the parties and their learned counsels, filed on the 25th of February, 2022.

The parties have urged the court to make the terms of settlement, judgement of the court.”

While on the enforcement, a group known as J-5 stormed the area and disrupted the peaceful exercise.

The group were said to be from the palace of our father, the Olubadan. The security agents out of maturity and peace were calm and recorded the video at the scene.”

Dr Akinsola said, before now, we understand the responsibility of the Olubadan In Council with our respected high chiefs ensuring peace and tranquility in Ibadan over the years.

“But I was taken aback with the activities of J-5 group in recent times. A time when the Oyo State government under the leadership of our Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde is working seriously to ensure security of lives and property, then any acts of brigandage or thuggery from whatever quarters must be condemned by all. The so called J-5 group are not known to Ibadan traditional institution and as such has no locus standing to function “.

Dr Akinsola further stated that for the legal occupants of the land, the family door is opening for meaningful negotiation and necessary peace in the dispute.

Dr Akinsola also used the opportunity to call on the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Okumade the second to call the J-5 group to order before further damage to the land.

“On a final note, let me on behalf of the Akinsola’s family to say that the law of the land will be strictly follow to the latter in taken back our belongings and not a single individual or group no matter how highly place will stop us from this.”, he added.
