Electricity Subsidy: Don’t Add To Nigerians Pain, Resign If You Can’t Solve Nigeria Power Sector Problem , Oladoja Tells Adelabu
A Chieftain of the Oyo state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mogaji Olawale Oladoja has advised the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu to resign his position and not add to the pains of Nigerians.
Oladoja stated this on Monday while fielding questions from journalists on the various challenges confronting the nation.
Mogaji Oladoja said Nigerians are already grappling with too many economic distortions and introducing another subsidy removal now is not what the people need.
He advised the Federal Government not to remove the electricity subsidy, saying such an act can lead to tougher economic conditions for Nigerians.
“For me, I will advise my brother, Adebayo Adelabu contemplate the removal of the subsidy because of the current economic hardship.
“Nigerians across the country are already grappling with too many economic harships which have led to the cost of living in the country, coming up with removal of the subsidy on electricity will raise the inflation rate and worsen the people’s economic plight,
“Adelabu should as a matter of fact come out and explain to Nigerians where is subsidy in Nigeria electricity. Is it the Kanji Dam or what, we need to know. Coming out with policies like this is anti masses and evil.”
Oladoja said instead for government to focus more on improving the challenges of the energy sector, someone is there proposing the removal of subsidies.
Oladoja, while commenting on economic crisis facing the nation, he urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call for a serious meeting between his government and Nigeria industrialists who are in control of economy and seek for their assistance and cooperation in ending the sufferings of Nigerians.
He calls on Tinubu to consider the re-opening of the Nation’s border for food items to come into the country pending the time the nation will attain food sufficiency.
Also, on NLC proposed National Protest coming up next week, Oladoja said the protest is long overdue, as labour movement is known for coming to the side of the people in terms of crisis just like the nation is experiencing now.
He added labour is not only for civil servant but for Nigerians especially when there is a need to call governmet to other when it’s policies are anti masses.
