Ekiti NSCDC Arrests Fleeing Boko Haram Member
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ekiti State Command has arrested a wanted Boko Haram member suspected to have fled from the Northeast after a persistent onslaught from the Nigeria Army.
NSCDC State Public Relations Officer, SC Afolabi Tolulope, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, December 5, 2024, said the suspect, Isah Jafaru aka Nabida was arrested at Iloro Ekiti after the operative of the intelligence department of the Command launched a manhunt for him following his questionable character in the community.
According to the spokesperson, preliminary investigation from the command depicted that the suspect is a top rank member of the terrorist group and relocated to Iloro Ekiti while other members of the group are scattered within Ekiti State.
Parading the suspect, the State Commandant Dr Oluwaseun Sosina Paul explained that the command’s intelligence and Counter Terrorism Unit are moving out in search of these miscreants with a view to stopping them from regrouping in Ekiti state while the Command will cooperate with other paramilitary agencies to make sure that the State remain peaceful during, before and after this festive season.
In the spirit of synergy, the Command will hand over the suspect to the Department of State Security Service for further investigation to pave the way for the arrest of others who are currently in that axis and other parts of the state., Sosina added.
The Commandant therefore advised Ekiti people to be vigilant and take time to know their neighbors, our traditional rulers and other land owners should be careful of those that are making use of their land, especially forest that cannot be assessed easily by the people.
Sosina who enjoined Ekiti people to report promptly any person or group of persons with questionable character to the nearest security agency, assured that Ekiti NSCDC will always protect identities of any person that volunteered credible information that can assist the Command in her quest to protect the people and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.
