Court Remanded Traditional Ruler in Prison Over Failure To Fulfil Bail Conditions

In a dramatic turn of events, the suspended traditional ruler of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, has been remanded at the Ilaro Correctional Centre in Ogun State.

This development comes after he failed to meet the bail conditions set by the court.¹

Oba Ogunjobi was arraigned before the Ifo Magistrate Court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
The charges stem from a viral video showing the monarch allegedly assaulting an elderly chief in his community.

Despite pleading not guilty to all charges, the presiding magistrate set bail at N5 million with stringent conditions, including two sureties who must also deposit N5 million each.

Unfortunately, Oba Ogunjobi was unable to fulfill these conditions, leading to his remand.

The case has been adjourned to March 6 for further hearing, giving both the prosecution and defense ample time to prepare their cases. This development marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for the alleged victim and the community at large.
