2027: Voting Tinubu Can Return South-East to National Relevance — Anyim
A former APC governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr. Nyerere Chinenye Anyim, has said the 2027 general election presents a major turning point for the South-East region. According to him, supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term could help reintegrate the South-East into the mainstream of national politics, opening doors to more infrastructure projects, federal appointments, and political influence.
Speaking during a recent interview, Anyim argued that elections are not just about emotions but strategic choices that determine a region’s future. Politics rewards participation and strategy. National positions are not handed out freely you work for them, he said.
He pointed to ongoing and completed projects in the region, including major road constructions and the creation of the South-East Development Commission, as signs that the region is beginning to gain more federal attention. Anyim maintained that while Nigeria is still facing economic and social challenges, he believes there is light at the end of the tunnel, stressing that progress is already visible compared to previous years.
He also praised the federal government for improving revenue flow to states, saying governors now have fewer excuses not to deliver good governance. States are receiving more funds than before. With the resources available today, only poor leadership can fail the people, he added.
The APC chieftain urged South-East voters to see 2027 as an opportunity to negotiate their political future, rather than remain on the margins of national decision-making.
