Labour Leaders Should Not Be Political Arm Of Politicians Preparing For 2027 Election – Barr Oladipo

Following the end of the NLC and UTC two-day nationwide strike action that resulted in productivity loss estimated over ₦498 billions , I don’t think that the correct approach by the Labour Unionists should be asking for minimum Productivity Bargain, not minimum wage for them to be taken as correct Patriots not Political arm of the politicians preparing for the 2027 Election, wanting to create labour strike action and unnecessary unpatriotic disstabilising scenarios to making Nigeria ungovernable for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR President Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The purpose of a focused labour that is mindful of immediate and the remote ripple effects of going to strike will apply reasonable caution in the legitimate power of Collective Bargaining.

Collective bargaining power should rather be how government can bring down the cost of goods and commodities in the country and also fuel prices through massive production, productivity and injection of autonomous investments in the production functions in Manufacturing industries, Oil and Gas, Agriculture, technology, Tourism, Marine and Blue Economy as well as in Commercial entrepreneurship among other things.

As a Development Economist, if this so called #60,000 minimum wage as agreed upon now, things will still be costly than it is now because government will like to source quickly go ability to pay in order to wanting to implement.

Therefore a higher tax on companies and individuals in the country for them to be able to meet up with the amount agreed upon on the minimum wage. And all these things are falling back on the mases in the country.

The rich can afford while the poor or average will be struggling to afford things just like the way it is now. Talk more of more taxes on goods and services and commodities.

My opinion though is that labour and TUC should look for a way to discuss on bringing down prices of things in the country rather than asking for an outrageous amount of money which they all know that government will never yield to that amount of money
