The Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde has explained the reason he ordered the stoppage of the popular Oloore Mosque, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde speaking at a special Jumat service held at Oja’ba central mosque Ibadan to mark his birthday said he stopped the demolition because of what people told him about the mosque.
“People told me it was not only Oloore mosque we have such facilities and that parents also take their children there for rehabilitation. I interviewed some parents at Sanyo area, where we took them and they said they actually took their children there. I have to listen to what people were saying.
“So when they talked to me, I asked them not to demolish the mosque again and informed the police too to leave Alfa alone. I told social workers to also go and inspect it because we need to modernise anything we do”.
Governor Makinde urged religious leaders to always gives advice whenever they think its necessary as he is a listening governor and always ready to take advices adding that only God is perfect.
