The Oyo State commissioner for Lands Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Rahman Abdulraheem has assured the people of the state that the on going administration would be committed to good administration of land in the state.
Hon. Abdulraheem made the submission in a chat with newsmen on Tuesday in his office.
The commissioner who assumed office seven month ago said that the principal duties of the administration is to ensure good value of lands development.
He said: “ours is to ensure that we have a very good administration in oyo state, the situation we met on ground by the past administration was bad but the present administration has been working to ensure smooth administration of land to bring sanity into the whole system”.
“The GRA’s are not well administered there are several cases where by lands are allocated to people without working on it. Such allocation will be withdrawn and allocated to members of the public who are serious and interested by developing the land and this has brought a means of generating money into the IGR of the state.
According to him, an idea was conceived and approved by oyo state government to have a land swap arrangement to allocate the land to people who will bring infrastructure to develop the land.
The commissioner said he had spoken to the state government to compensate the people whose land are acquired.
He also said that the GRA’s in the state are not enough adding that six areas have been marked out for GRA’s
“Work is already on, on the three of them in area like Olorisa Oko, another along Oyo Opposite Kola Daisi University, and one along Egbeda Lagelu. This is a way of decongesting the city.
The commissioner said, ” I have set up some tax force committee to see to the implementation on government policies in the IGR’s in Oyo Ogbomosho and Saki, we have been working on them some people dont know that there are still vacancy of land “.
> Speaking on omo onile factor Hon Abdulraheem described the issue as a systematic problem adding that issue have degenerated into acceptance.
He advised the good people of the state to always project something positive so as to be a beneficiary at the end of it.
