What could have turned out to be a fire disaster of huge quantum was early Saturday morning averted when a petroleum tanker loaded with fuel fell off at the Academy area, Lagos – Ibadan expressway.
Though no casualty was reported it took the combined efforts of men of the Nigeria Police force, officers of state fire service to cordone off people of the area to ensure fuel was not scoop thereby averting what could have been a terrible fire disaster this weekend.
While speaking with BCOS news, an eye witness Muideen Ajagbe said the tanker fell of the road with the driver not in the tanker and fell right on another faulty tanker packed at a mechanic workshop.
Also Com Adebayo Adewale who is a member of Petroleum Tankers Driver, Oyo State said the Where about of the driver as at the time was not known.
Also an officer of the state fire service PFS Olayiwola Tunde Kazeem stated that the area has been cordoned off for seamless rescue operations to be carried out as well as to prevent possible outbreak of fire disaster.
The situation has led into heavy traffic build along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway and motorists moving slowly and trans-loading into another tanker was ongoing.
