The Speakers House of Assembly of the six South West state have concluded plans to give Operation Amotekun a legal backing in Ibadan, the political Headquarters of the south west region to debate on the success of Operation Amotekun which has caused lot of pandemonium since January 9th 2020 after it was launched.
The conference which was held at Jerico Mahogany Hotel Eleyele Ibadan Thursday 23rd of January 2020.
While addressing the speakers of the six South West state, the chairman of the south west conference of speakers and speakers of the Ondo state House if Assembly,( chief) Honrable Bamidele Oleyelogun said every Nigerian is entitled to adequate security from the government
He also commend all efforts by the government and majority leaders past and present of the six state in taking a pro active measure in combating the security challenges in the state.
The speaker Ondo State House of Assembly said Operation Amotekun has received the blessing of the Federal Government from the on set of it creation.
“Amotekun has come to stay as it will assist the state government in delivering their activities “.
The host speaker Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin in his welcoming address has commended the effort of the Development Agenda for western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission for the security initiative.
According to Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin, Operation Amotekun will only consist of the locals to complement the other security outfit in curbing the criminal acts in the South West.
The speaker Oyo State House of Assembly has promised that the speakers in the region will ensure that the law will be followed and do all they can to ensure safety and adequate security.
In furtherance to his speech he said , the purpose for the conference is to give necessary legislative backing to the efforts of the executive in putting adequate security in the South West geopolitical zones.
In another development, Honorable Mudashir Obasa the chairman conference of speakers of the six South West state have come together to discuss the issue on Operation Amotekun to give it a legal legislative backing.
The speaker House of Assembly Lagos Honorable Mudashir Obasa added that Amotekun is just to a complementary to increase the security of the state in combating criminality.
