Members of the Nigerian Union Of Journalists, BCOS chapel and those of Radio and Television Theatre Arts Union (RATTAWU) on Monday morning peacefully demonstrated their displeasure to the planned demolition of its staff quarters by a developer (name withheld).
The protest which began from the reception area of the corporation was led by the BCOS RATTAWU Chairman, Kolapo Carew and BCOS NUJ Chairman, Abiodun Akinkunle and other members of the two union.
The protesters moved round the staff quarters and sang various solidarity songs to registered their grievances to the actions of the developer who they claimed was not part of the project.
During the course of the protest, some Fulani’s allegedly working for the construction company were caught in one of the staff quarters belonging to a deceased of the corporation, Late Mrs Lola Akeju.
Addressing the protesters, the Chairman, NUJ, BCOS chapel Abiodun Akinkunle stated that the union has earlier made it clear to the developer not to tamper with the staff quarters.
He advised the developer to tread with caution as they continue with the development plan.
