Story by Temiloluwa Oyeniyi
The Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun through his Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOES&T), Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye urged parents and guardians to pay the West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for their children and wards so as to avoid being disqualified from writing the exam.
Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye gave this advise while monitoring resumption in schools across the State for the Second Term 2019/2020 academic year adding that the registration would close soon.
She further emphasized the importance of the examination stating that default in payment by parents would prevent their children and wards from writing the examination as it is a key determinant of their wards’ future.
Mrs. Ogunleye also expressed her satisfaction at the attitude of students towards resumption adding that academic work had commenced in earnest with the Welcome Back Tests. She however advised teachers and learners to justify government’s investment in education.
Some of the Schools visited by the Ministry include, Salawudeen Abiola Comprehensive High School, Osiele, Our Lady of Apostles School, Ijebu-Ode, Anglican Girls Grammar School and Government Science Technical College, Ijebu-Ode, amongst others.
