In a bid to ensure cleaner college environment, the department of environmental health, Oyo state college of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele-Ibadan had organized a day programme tagged “keep college environment cleaner crusade.”
In a statement by the school Public Relation Officer, Sola Samuel Ojewole, the Provost of the college, Sanitarian Siji Ganiyu at the event enjoined members of staff and students of the college to always maintain hygienic practice in and out of the college premises.
The Provost said the college being a Frontline tertiary health institution has demonstrated a worthwhile example for others around to emulate.
He said the college was established in 1933 for sanitary inspectors in order to maintain high hygienic standard which is the focus of world health Organization (WHO).
Sanitarian Siji Ganiyu equally revealed that Oyo state government is more committed to maintainance of clean environment which forms one of the Cardinal programmes of the present government.
He however commended the department of environmental health for organizing the enlightenment programme adding that the college management is fully in support of the programme.
Welcoming the guest, the head of the department, Environmental health, Sanitarian Wole Afolabi thanked the Provost and other management staff for their support towards the success of the one-day enlightenment programme.
In his brief lecture, the college admission officer who is also an environmental health officer, Pastor Samson Makinde who spoke on waste generation, waste gathering, bland waste segregation urged students to see waste to wealth as opportunity for self employment.
