In its renewed effort at turning waste to wealth, Oyo State College of Health, Science and Technology Eleyele-Ibadan has commenced modern day waste management project to create wealth.
The provost of the college Sanitarian Siji Ganiyu disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the college, Mr Sola Samuel Ojewole.
The provost stated that four waste segregation colour coded bins had been provided and strategically located within the college premises.
According to the Provost, “Green bin is for bio degradable waste, Black bin for recyclable waste, Yellow bin for infectious waste while Blue bin would be used for combustibles.”
Ganiyu maintained that the college has also made provisions for sorting centre where waste are processed for people’s benefit while such waste could also serve as source of revenue after turning them into fertilizer.
In his remark, a senior lecturers in the college Pastor Samson Makinde said the waste to wealth project was a new innovation targeted at turning waste to wealth in line with oyo state government agenda on wealth creation to wipe out poverty among the people of the state.
He however appealed to students to always dispose their waste correctly to ensure clean and healthy environment.
He comended the provost of the college for his genure idea to ensure clean and healthy environment.
The department of environmental health technology under the headship of Mr Wole Afolabi is to oversee the waste management project of the college.
