Oyo Marks 2020 World Civil Defence Day

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo state command is set to join its counterpart world wide to mark 2020 World Civil Defence Day known as “INTERNATIONAL CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANIZATION DAY (ICDO).

In a release made available to journalists in Ibadan through the corp public relation officer in the state, Supt Oluwole Olusegun, the State Commandant of Oyo State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), CC Iskilu Akinsanya, said the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) is an international body that joined all Civil Defence organizations globally with the objective of contributing to development of each member states and ensuring the protection and assistance of Population, Safeguarding property and the environment from national or man-made disasters.

He said the commandant stated this during a parley with the journalists, Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya made it known that ICDO celebration is a yearly event that comes up every March 1and being observed by all Civil Defence Organizations across the world.

Speaking further, he made it known that this year celebration had been organized to last for 4 days between 28th and March 2nd, 2020 with theme for the year 2020 edition “Civil Defence and First Aids in Every Home”.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Command of NSCDC has sent out some personnel from Medical and Disaster Management Unit to some Schools and Market places to enlighten them about first Aids in their homes which have commenced since Monday.

Day 1: Jummat Service

Date: Friday 28th February, 2020

Time: 1300 Hours

Venue: State Fire Service Mosque, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Day 2: Endurance Trek
Date: Saturday 29th February, 2020.
Time: 0630 Hours
Take off Point: State Headquarters
Dress Code: Combat Trouser, Boot and NSCDC Vest

Day 3: Church Service
Date: Sunday 1st March, 2020
Time: 1000 Hours
Venue: ST Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan.

Day 4: A Day Seminar on “Civil Defence and First Aid in Every Home”
Date: Monday 2nd March, 2020
Time: 1000 Hours
Venue: State Headquarters Conference Hall, Agodi, Ibadan.

In addition, Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya emphasized on the benefits of the Corps to demonstrate its Core value of disaster management, maintenance of Peace and order, Protection of lives and properties of all Nigerians and Non Nigeria, especially when the Civil Populace give the organization the necessary information and support they need.
