The Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has disclosed that part of the security measures he had taken was to instruct local government chairmen to involve traditional rulers as well as other voluntary people in the policing of the area and to be services with N10million month per local government.
GovernorMakinde made this disclosure while addressing Muslim faithful serving in his cabinet who had paid him avisit in commemoration of the Eid-el-Kabir on Tuesday.
Makinde said recently gathered data indicate an improved security situation in the state as a result of heightened security measures taken by the government.
He said the measure monthly rakes up to N330million from the 33 local govt areas alone aside from other efforts put in place by the state government.
We said local government should set up security committee which should include traditional rulers and voluntary people willing to police their areas and I encouraged them to budget N10million to service the committee every month.
And for the entire state, that’s N330million per month by all local governments, excluding what we are doing generally at the state level.”
