Oyo Labour Leaders Commends Makinde Over COVID-19 Break

One major ways through which sperad of COVID 19 can be curbed is to stay away or self isolation for some days.

The Oyo state Governor Engr Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Wedneday shut down the civil service of the state for two weeks, beginning from Friday March 27, 2020 in order to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.

Governor Makinde on his twitter handle on Wednesday disclosed this followed his directives that earlier banned religious services, weddings, burial ceremonies and other forms of social gatherings in the state, as well as the closure of all schools with the likelihood of resumption after Easter break in April.

The Governor said workers rendering essential services would be required to report for duty.

BCOS news visited the state secretariat to assess the preparation by workers in anticipation for the two weeks break.

While speaking with BCOS news the chairman Trade Union Congress Oyo State Mr Emmanuel Ogundiran said the closure becomes important because of the speedy spread of COVID 19.

Also the Natioanl Vice Chairman, Nigerian Union Of Journalists B Zone, Cosmos Oni commended the state governor Seyi Makinde for the steps.

On his own Com Babatunde Yusuf thanked Gov Seyi Makinde for ensuring that workers in the state were paid even as they go for the mandatory two weeks break.

The two weeks break would be reviewed after its expiration as disclosed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
