Oyo Guber Hopeful, Adeduntan Mourns Alaafin of Oyo, Says It’s End Of An Era

The Osi Basorun of Ibadanland and leading 2023 Oyo State governorship hopeful, Bashorun Azeez Popoola Adeduntan has described the death of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi as a huge loss to the Oyo kingdom, Oyo State and humanity in general.

In a statement by his media office in Ibadan Saturday morning, Chief Dr. Adeduntan expressed shock at the demise of the great monarch who he said was the symbol of Yoruba culture and tradition.

It was gathered that the monarch died on Friday night aged 83 after spending 52 years on the throne.

The former health commissioner commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State as well as the indigenes of Oyo kingdom on the demise of the frontline traditional ruler.

Adeduntan noted that Alaafin’s reign of 52 years reinforced the town as a land of peace, accommodating and a bastion of history and tradition of Yoruba land.

“Kaabiyesi would forever be remembered for his counsel and commitment to the unity and harmony within the ranks of the traditional rulers. He was an extraordinary person blessed with qualities and characteristics which made him one of the most unforgettable kings of his generation .
Alhaji Adeduntan prayerfully beseeched ALLAH (SWT) in this holy month of Ramadan to forgive his sins and transgressions,comfort his family and grant eternal repose to his gentle and amiable soul-the statement added.
