The Association Of Local Government Of Nigeria (ALGON) has cautioned the newly sworn in caretaker chairmen of the thirty three local council and thirty five local council development areas to avoid being put under duress by the state government.
In a statement by the Oyo State Chapter of the association Prince Ayodeji Abass Alesinloye said this becomes important In order not to foist what is clearly illegal and fraudulent administration over local councils and LCDA’s In oyo state.
Prince Alesinloye explained that that the state governor Engr Seyi Makinde has demonstrated no iota of respect for the rule of law and the court’s hence his serial breaches leading to an illegal appointment of an unlawful contraption called caretaker chairmen.
“We emphatically restate that that there is no law in Oyo State creating a caretaker chairman’s office over any local government councils and LCDA’s, hence the recent purported appointments of caretakers is a flagrant display of irresponsibil2and mere jokes for public grandstanding with no force of law.”
The Association called on bankers to local councils and LCDA’s, civil servants, and all local government staff across the state not to be part of executive recklessness and disobedient to the rule of law as exhibited by the state government.
He added that if the governor continues to toe the path of recalcitrance, he and others will one day face the consequences of their actions.
