As part of his promise to fulfilled one of the legal criteria to reconstruct Eleyele international market to modern and international standard, the caretaker chairman, Oke’Badan north lcda, Alhaji Ganiy Omotoso recently presented cheques to all the shop owners in the market.
In his remark at the event, the Oyo State commissioner for information, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun who served as the caretaker chairman of Ibadan North west local government during the administration of Oyo State Governor, Late Abiola Ajimobi said it is important for people to cooperate with the state governor in repositiining state.
Dr Olatunbosun stated that governor Seyi Makinde since assumption of office has has left no stone unturned in making sure the people of the state enjoyed dividends of democracy.
He specially congratulated the Oke’Badan council Boss, Alhaji Ganiyu Omotosho for the great breakthrough of reconstructing the market which many of his predecessors have attempted to do but not successful until his government come on board.
Speaking at the event, the caretaker chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Omotoso said the cheque presentation was the first major step taken by his administration to ensure total reconstruction of the market after series of meeting with the original shop owners and court judgement previously obtained by the original shop owners.
Alhaji Omotosho explained that having fulfilled the payment of compensations, the next line of action for the developer to move to site and begin the first phase of the project which lasted for six months before commencement of the second phase.
The council Boss assures shop owners in the market to be rest assured that they will be given preference when the time to allocate the newly reconstructed shops begin.
In their separate comments, Baale Eleyele, Chief Kolawole Durowaye and the Babaloja of the market, Alhaji Rasheed Olaniran commended the lcda Boss for his foresight and complementing the good works of Gov Makinde at the grassroot.
Baale Eleyele, Chief Durowaye added that all market belongs to the government hence it can be taken for the overall development of the people.
The lawyer to the allotees Oyetunji Adeniyi and the developer of the market, Mr Segun Adebanjo said the project will also complement the good works of Governor Seyi Makinde led administration.
Barrister Adeniyi said the Oke’Badan LCDA has fulfilled all agreement reached in its quest to put the market in a good shape for the socio economic development of the area.
Some of the shop owners as well as the said the reconstruction is over due and it will go a long way in enhancing economic activities of the area.
The Chairman later presented the check to shop owners present.
