Community stakeholders and Residents of Oke’badan North LCDA have been enjoined to support the state government and fire sevice agencies in curbing the incessant inferno in the state.

Giving the advice was the Caretaker committee chairman of Oke’badan North LCDA, .Alh Ganiy Abiodun Omotosho at a one day sensitization programme on prevention of Fire Disaster for community stakeholders in Oke’badan LCDA and Ibadan Northwest Local government Area, held at the council secretariat, onireke Ibadan.

According to the chairman, “Nigeria is a country blessed with abundant mineral resources and favorable weather conditions, however, there is need for all to manage the weathers effectively from causing any havoc to all and sundry.”

He added that the rate at which cases of fire outbreaks were reported in the state were very alarming hence the need for sudden precautions.

Alh Omotosho stressed that sensitization on preventioon of fire disaster organised by the council was another remarkable way of complementing the efforts of the present administration under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde at reducing the incessant inferno in all the nooks and cranies of oyo state.

The facilitator, who is the Head of fire prevention and protection unit of Oyo state Fire services, Engr Adeleke acknowledged the initiative of the council boss for organising the programme.

He reiterated that it was a great avenue for the agency to educate and inform the general public especially community leaders in oke’badan LCDA and Ibadan Northwest Local government on causes and preventions of inferno at home, offices,markets, companies.

Engr Adeleke enjoined the participants at the programe to be security conscious in their day today activities.

He emphasised that inferno in markets, houses and companies were mostly caused by poor layout, hoarding of fuel and lack of fire safety tips.

The facilitator advised everyone to ensure that escape routes along with fire extinguishers are provided at home, offices , markets and companies.

Also, hoarding of fuel, use of cellular phones with generating sets should be strictly avoided.

Engr Adeleke further implored residents of oke’badan/IbadanNorthwest and oyo state in general to call the office of the Oyo state fire services in case of any fire outbreak in their area stressing that the state fire services is ready to serve the people at any point in time.

Present at the programme included state Honourable representing Ibadan Northwest constituency, Hon, Akeem Obadara, Executive chairman of OYRTMA, Mogaji(Dr) Fagbemi, PDP starlwarts, HLGA,HODs among others.
