The solemn rite of passage for Late Professor of Agronomy, and wife of the immediate past Oyo State commissioner for environment, Olukemi Titilola Ayoola began with a procession of honour organised by the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Apata, Ibadan.
While speaking at the well attended solemn event, the Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University Prof Eyitayo Olubodede stated that the role played by Late Prof Kemi Ayoola in the University was so significant that the University will not forget in hurry.
Prof Olubodede said the University and the institute will continue to cherish the memory of the late Professor by implementing her academic works and policies she made while alive.
In her tribute, the Director, IAR&T, Professor Veronica Fatolu described the death of Late Kemi Ayoola as sudden, shocking and devastating.
She said the late Professor’s office was one of the very few offices she visited unofficially most times.
The Oyo State commissioner for information, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun described the deceased as a prayer warrior who supported her late husband during his political sojourn while on earth.
Dr Olatunbosun disclosed that Professor Ayoola was one of those few people who were with him during his difficult period during the last administration.
Other members of management and staff, representatives of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), representatives of Professors and heads of departments among others extolled the virtues of the late Professor Kemi Ayoola.
The second part of the farewell service was at the New Convenant Church, Apata, Ibadan where families, friends and members of the church gathered to bade the late Professor final bye.
In his sermon, Rev Timi Oladoke said death is not the end of men but the beginning of life hereafter which is judgement.
He described Late Professor Olukemi Titilola as a devoted Christian who dedicated her lifetime to service of God.
While describing their late mom, her sons Folarin and Benny Ayoola described her as determined , resourceful and inspiring woman.
Others at the service also extolled the great virtues of Late Professor Kemi Ayoola.
The remains of Late Professor Ayoola was then taken to the New Convenant church cementary, Eruwa road, Ibadan for internment.
Late Professor Olukemi Titilola Ayoola was born on 30th September 1967 to Late James and Mary Isola. She attended Ibadan city council primary school , Oke Adu, Ibadan between 1973 and 1978.
She proceeded to Holy Trinity Grammar school , old Ife road, Ibadan where she obtained her Secondary School certificate in 1983.
She studied briefly at Ibadan Polytechnic and later proceeded to University of Ibadan where she obtained a BSC in Agricultural Extension.
After her Doctorate in 1999, Late Professor Ayoola joined the services of IAR&T, Obafemi Awolowo University as a research fellow and subsequently rose to become a Professor of Agronomy.
She married her to her late husband, Late Rt Hon Kehinde Ayoola in 1996 and were blessed with two sons Folarin and Benny.
She is survived by aged mother, two sons, brothers and sisters.
