Democrazy Day: June 12, A Legacy For Free, Fair And Credible Election – OSM

The President, Ogun State Solidarity Movement (OSM), Lekan Shobo Shobowale on behalf of Executives and members of the Ogun Solidarity Movement has felicitated with the people of Ogun State on the occasion of another Democrazy Day celebration.

In a release made available to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, it stated that June 12 is a legacy for free , fair and credible elections and a memorial that Nigerians stoutly rose above ethnic and religious sentiments.

“ The heroic demonstration of patriotism by the Nigerian voters on June 12 , 1993 will continue to inspire generations of compatriots to promote national unity and defend the country ’ s democracy.”

It said since 1999, Nigeria had come a long way in democratic practice, noting that the country ’ s democratic experience was developing by the day, adding that Nigeria had learnt a lot in the last 22 years of uninterrupted democracy .

OSM urged Nigerians and residents of Ogun state to remain united in the face of
daunting challenges facing the country and called for prayers to overcome the several security challenges in some parts of the nation.

Also, the group urged the Federal Government to recommit to electoral reform to deepen the nation’s democracy.
