Nigeria records first case of coronavirus

The number of deaths arising from the Coronavirus pandemic now stands at over 10000, according to figures on Friday.

More than 240,000 people are infected.

Italy with 4,300 deaths now has the highest toll in the world.

Deaths there rose by 627 on Friday.

China where the virus originated last year has 3,245 reported deaths.

Trailing China is Spain which, as at yesterday, had   recorded 1002, a jump of 235 from the 767 recorded deaths on Thursday.

Nearly 20,000 people have been infected in Spain while 1,588 people recovered.

The United States has  over 13,000 confirmed cases and  more than 204 deaths, and the United Kingdom 177.

The number of cases in Germany rose by nearly 3,000 to 13,957 overnight

There were also 11 more deaths from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, bringing the total in Germany to 31.

The Robert Koch Institute, which is responsible for disease control and prevention, has also recommended people keep their distance to limit the spread of coronavirus.
