The Oyo State Government will expand the teaching and learning space in schools ahead of the start of the 2020/2021 academic session.
Part of the plan is to provide more blocks of classrooms, rehabilitate the existing ones and provide more desks as well as benches.
This was disclosed on Friday by the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Education, Science & Technology; Alhaja Aminat Atere while participating on ORO TO N LO, a daily current affairs radio network programme on OLUYOLE 98.5FM.
Alhaja Aminat Atere said that government decided to embark on the expansion drive in line with the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines provided on schools reopening.
She explained that in taking decisions on reopening of schools and adjustment of schools calendar, government relied on data, science and experts advice.
She said students in Oyo State have been adequately prepared for all external examinations such as the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASCE).
She also announced a ban on daily assembly in schools as part of measures to prevent overcrowding among students.
The Permanent Secretary added that both public & private schools in the state have been directed to resume by 8:00 am and close by 1:00 pm Monday to Friday.
This she said was in line with the Covid-19 guidelines and protocols.
