A Lawmaker representing Egbeda state constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Samson Babalola has admonished the people of his constituency to always
maintain social distancing and ensure full compliance to safety measures on COVID-19 pandemic as a way of controlling the spread of the virus.
Hon. Babalola gave the admonition in an interview with journalists in his office on Monday.
The Local Government it will be recalled has the second highest number of COVID-19 case in the state.
According to him, the issue of the pandemic was coming at a time the present government was trying to build and develop the economic of state.
“I commend the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde and members of the state Assembly for their support and timely response on the menace of the pandemic.
As a result of the corona virus problem, our allocation was slashed by 30 percent, and I have personally distributed some food items to members of my constituency as palliatives at that level.”
“I distributed food items like rice, beans, Garri, salt, sugar among others. I also collaborated with Omo Ajorosun Local Council Development Area to work together on sensitization and other safety measures to make the people stay safe.”
The legislator said he had embarked on inspection exercise to the Isolation center otherwise called the COVID-19 Infectious Disease Centre at Olodo to check all the facilities and make enquiries to ensure people within the community are safe.
On the demolished shops and business centres at Iwo Road, Hon. Babalola said the move was for the betterment of the people of the state adding that government has plan to replace the shop with modern ones.
