Members of the Oyo State Government agency on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Oloye ‘Lekan Alabi,Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadanland and the first Culture Ambassador of the National Museum, Ile Ife on the need for his support in advocacy against COVID 19 pandemic.
The spokesperson, Risk Communication Pillar (RCP),Alhaja Hannatu Bello,from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),Abuja,in her remark said RCP pays advocacy visits to selected community leaders who can influence society to comply with the preventive health instructions given by governments to stop the spread of the raging Coronavirus(COVID-19)pandemic in the country.
According to Alhaja Bello,such preventive measures which include citizens staying at home during the present lockdown,keeping social distance,avoiding crowded places, handshakes,covering of mouths and noses when they sneeze or cough,regular washing of hands,among others will ensure reduction in the spread of the disease.
She commended the citizens and residents of Oyo State for complying with the preventive measures put in place by the Federal and Oyo State Governments.
In his response, the Ekefa Olubadan Oloye Lekan Alabi thanked the delegation of the RCP, for considering him worthy of the advocacy visit.
He promised to continue to support all the preventive measures of governments and corporate bodies to stop the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and timely treatment of its victims.
Members of the team includes Dr Oluwatomi Owopetu of the University College Hospital (UCH), Mrs Folasade Oladele of the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, Alhaja Hannatu Bello of the NCDC,Abuja, Mr Samuel Gbenga Olatunji of the National Orientation Agency (NOA)Oyo State Directorate and Ms Oladipo Adekunmbi of the Oyo State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
