Ayoola’s Death: Oyo Needs Cardio Vascular Centre , Adeduntan Tells Makinde

The world revered Cardio Vascular Surgeon and President RILGA LLC, -a professional corporation in the United States of America and Nigeria -Chief (Dr) Azeez Popoola Adeduntan has advised the Oyo State Governor -Seyi Makinde to as a matter of urgency establish a cardio vascular center in the state.

Chief (Dr) Adeduntan gave this advice while answering questions from journalists in his office at Abuja -the nation’s capital.

The international cardiovascular surgeon who is also the OSI Bashorun Of Ibadanland explained that it is now important to think towards having a well equipped heart CENTER in the state especially with the turn of events in recent times.

Chief (Dr)Adeduntan recalled that the former speaker of the Oyo State house of assembly during the second term of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Rt Hon Michael Adeyemo died of a heart related disease and now another former speaker of the same house of assembly during Alhaji Lam Adesina, Rt Hon Kehinde Ayoola is gone due to heart related disease.

“It is not right for any Nigerian to die of some sort of cardio vascular condition due to lack of access to proper care for “health is a fundamental right of all”.

According to him, “there have been an Increasing requests for cardiac and vascular surgeries as the figures keep rising by the months due to lots of factors like hypertension,Diabetes, cigarettes smoking, elevated cholesterol levels and familial reasons. Cardio vascular conditions in the nation is a silent killer and there is a need to find a lasting way out of it by putting in place cardio vascular centre in Oyo State. ”

“As a commissioner between 2016 and 2019 under the immediate past administration, I made frantic effort to ensure that the state put in place a heart hospital which will be to the benefit of all and sundry in the state and will also reduce unnecessary heart related deaths in Oyo State. ”

“This was not achieved then because of the enormous power vested in the Chief Executive Officer of the state, which is the State Governor who also has approving power and decide what to be and not to be.

In light of the fact that GOVERNANCE IS A continuum , I am therefore appealing to the current Chief Executive Officer of Oyo State in person of Engr Seyi Makinde to write his name in the mind of the people of Oyo State and ensure establishment of heart hospital in the State. ”

Chief (Dr) Adeduntan further stated that “more than 36 million people die annually from non communicable disease(NODs) accounting for 63% of all global deaths as this includes more than 14 million people who die too young between the ages of 30 and 70, and low and middle income nations like Nigeria already bear 86% of the burden of these premature deaths, a good example are my dear brothers Late Kehinde Ayoola and Late Michael Adeyemo and a friend -DR SUN BASORUN(chairman of foodCO),and many unknown others, who if not their untimely deaths, would have contributed greatly to the development of our dear state.”

“I therefore call on the current Governor of Oyo State to put “politics” aside and heed to these special words of wisdom and establish this all important health facilities ,if only to the memory of his close aide Kehinde Ayoola who stood by him all through these years and save Oyo State these preventable sudden and untimely deaths, too many.” at this time the statement added.
